Content: "Have you created a seriously bad-ass Corvette in GTR2?" - Yup, that would be me. Guilty as (super)charged! First a quick intro. I'm the proud founder of the Giant Pixel Racing Team, a small but very cozy group of Dutch sim racers. Currently we're racing two sims on a weekly basis, GTR2 and rFactor, though the mother of all racing sims Grand Prix Legends is also receiving more and more attention these days. In 2005 we have competed online with GTR in the Simracing.nl Dutch GTR championship and were looking for a color scheme for the team rides. One thing was very clear from the start: we all agreed that black is by far the coolest color for any racing car so that would become our base. Since back then I was the only one with at least some Photoshop experience I was given (or actually took ) the honorable task upon me to design the cars we would be racing in that competition. I had spend a couple of days, close to a week, searching online for a suitable scheme to adapt when I stumbled onto a picture of the 2004 Yokohama ADVAN Dome S101 race car that entered the 24 hours of Le Mans that year. I was sold on the spot. Done, no need to search any further. That was thé car I wanted to make. You'll all have to forgive me but my first ever love in racing GT's was the Chrysler Viper GTS. I've always loved Corvette's, specially the old ones, but I guess when the Viper came out in '96 (I think?) in my eyes it was just cooler than the Vette. I was young, what can you do? So I was racing the GTS-R that year and so was my good friend Bas, who almost always shares my choice so we can build setups together and have a true competition with each other. And we also had a Saleen S7R and a Ferrari F550 Maranello Prodrive in our team. When GTR2 came out I had already made up my mind and nothing would stop me from driving the 2004 Corvette C5R. I already had been spotted doing countless laps with that car in GTR but with the new bigger and stronger V8 in GTR2 compared to the version in GTR it was a dangerous weapon in the hands of a skilled driver. So when choosing the car for GTR2 I didn't need much time to make up my mind, kissed the old Chrysler V10 goodbye and took my stayed with that beast of a car: the Chevy Corvette C5R. For me this meant that I was presented the golden opportunity to redesign my Corvette specially for GTR2 so I fired up Photoshop with one thing in mind: transforming a already cool looking car (yes, even when I do say so myself) into a bad-ass V8 bearing monster. And to tell you the truth: I did it *grin* The result was the car shown in the pictures which wasn't complete until Dave decided to generously sponsor the team which in terms meant that his website would have to be very clearly visible on the car. It has never, ever looked so darn good. This is it: the GPRT ADVAN Madvettemotorsports.com Chevrolet Corvette C5R. Feel free to tell me whatever you think, I can take it all.
